Our club was founded in 1946 and we are over 80 members strong. Our community is a scenic oceanfront city on the eastern shore of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. We are blessed with an abundance of natural beauty, mild weather year round, and many outdoor activities.
We meet at noon every Wednesday with great club spirit and fellowship. We participate in a wide-range of community, youth, and international projects including hosting international students in our community and sponsoring local students to visit other nations through Youth Exchange.
Over the years, our Club has put millions of dollars and tens of thousands of volunteer hours into making our community and our world a better place to live.
The over 90 Rotary Clubs in our district combined typically donate over 400,000 volunteer hours and several million dollars annually to making our communities and the world a better place.
Rotary International is the world's first service club organization, with more than 1.2 million members in over 35,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto "Service Above Self".
Susie hopes to spotlight Rotary’s 2 new areas of focus: Supporting the Environment: Climate Change and Diversity and Inclusion emphasizing new partnerships with the City, environmental groups, Indigenous peoples, and the business community all working together. Attracting new members will focus on diversity, emphasizing engagement, and removing barriers to membership. It's going to be an exciting year building on the accomplishments of our great Club.
