Long Program: Joanne Watson, Executive Director of the Campbell River Food Bank will host Rotarians at 1393 Marwalk Crescent from 11:30 to 1pm. 

They will provide an overview of the Food Bank's service to the community and they will provide us lunch.

Joint Lunch Meeting with Daybreak Rotary Club

The great CR Rotary Chili cook off at the MHC, 12 noon. Here are the details:
Cost for entry will be $15.00/person. Guests are welcome.

There will be 4 competitive categories for the contest with cash prizes...
Best original recipe.
Best Traditional TexMex style recipe
Best Vegetarian recipe
Best Unique style recipe (e.g. Turkey/Thai/East Indian styles, plus)

Each entrant must bring the equivalent of 20 servings with them for tasting, served in either a heated pot or crock pot
Entrants must supply ladles for serving the chili.
Entrants will be required to provide a list of all the ingredients in the chili for those who have allergies and food sensitivity.
Entrants will be reimbursed for the ingredients used.

Rotary member partnering is encouraged for entrants where possible.

We will provide shredded cheese, sour cream, red pepper flakes and tortilla chips. Anyone that can provide some corn bread would be appreciated.
We will also provide coffee, sparkling water and a margarita mocktail.

If you are interested in being a contestant or want to help, please contact me. I know everyone has their own recipe for delicious chili and this is a great opportunity to show your stuff and check out other recipes.

Weekly Meeting- Ryan Stuart Healthy Cookbook & SOM

Short Program:  Student of the Month Ecole Willow Point. Principal Nancy Hwang. SOM is Gabriela Figueroa, grade 5. Her guests are parents Marlo and Alberto Figueroa. The family requested 2 grandparents attend, Ed and Fay Figueroa, and funds are available in the annual SOM budget due to no cost associated with the May 6 Sayward off site recognition event.  The  request was approved by Director of Youth Karen Johnstone. The Figueroa party will be 6 guests. Teacher is Melissa Johnstone. We require a vegan meal for Melissa Johnstone. 

 

Long Program: Ryan Stuart to come speak about healthy habits and the cookbook he created with his wife Josie

Ryan Stuart and his wife Josie Boulding recently self-published a cookbook and are looking forward to come to our club to speak about it. They live in the Comox Valley, Josie grew up in Campbell River and their book is inspired by their west coast life. It’s called HABIT: 6 Bases, 29 Recipes and a New Way of Cooking. More than a collection of recipes, it’s a meal prep strategy designed to make eating healthy, from scratch meals easier, faster and more fun.
